If you pull on the shackle lightly and turn the dial you will notice that the dial will stick in three general zones. In these zones, you will be able you turn the dial left and right a little bit until it stops. In addition, the zones will either be two or three numbers wide. In each zone, a number of the combination lies. Now how do you deside which number in each zone is the correct one? The one that is the multiple of three. The combination on my Dudley lock is 24-05-31. Now wait a sec! The number five isn't a multiple of three! All combination locks alow a little bit of room for error. For example: If I were putting in my combination and instead of putting my dial to five, I put it to the nearest multiple of 3, which in this case is six, the lock would still open. So once you have your numbers, how do you figure out what order to put them in? The smallest number in value is almost always the second number in the combination. For example: Look at the combination for my lock. So say you're cracking a lock and you have the numbers 27,45,21. The smallest number in value(In this case is 21 ) would be the second number in the sequence. So that narrows it down to two combinations. 27-21-45 or 45-21-27. One of them will be the combination. It won't take long to try both. For practise, what I suggest you do is buy a Dudley combination lock, have your freind take of the sticker on the back and write down the combination. Then you gotta crack it with your new lock cracking skills. Have fun.
